I Printed an Egg Opener from MakerWorld on My Bambu Lab A1 mini — Cracking Eggs Just Got Easier

Opening an eggshell, especially for boiled eggs, can be more annoying than it sounds - shells crack unevenly, and peeling gets messy. This time I tried printing a small tool that promises to solve exactly that: the Egg Opener, a free model I found on MakerWorld.

About the Model

This model was designed by Kikerv, and according to the description, it's specifically designed for large (L) eggs, though slightly smaller eggs can fit too. What's interesting is that the entire model prints as a single piece with no supports needed, and the hinge is formed directly during printing, so there's zero assembly required.

The way it works is simple: you place the egg inside one half, close the other half, then press the levers to crack the egg. While still holding the levers, you open it up and the egg drops right out.

The model has also been updated to a V2 version, which fixes an issue where the levers were prone to breaking, thanks to a thicker lever design with rounded corners.

The Print

I printed this on a Bambu Lab A1 mini using Elegoo PLA in Wood color, a great choice since it gives the finished piece a natural wood-grain look, which fits nicely as a kitchen tool.

Slicing was straightforward with no complicated settings, and since no supports were required, the print came out clean right off the plate, ready to use immediately.

Testing It Out

Once the print finished, I tried it right away on a boiled egg. The built-in hinge (no assembly needed) worked smoothly, and the open-close mechanism felt solid for a PLA part. The Wood-colored Elegoo PLA also gave it a nice aesthetic touch, functional and good-looking on the kitchen counter.

Final Thoughts

The Egg Opener is a great example of a functional 3D print worth trying: fast print time (just about 1 hour), no supports or assembly, and genuine everyday usefulness. If you own a Bambu Lab A1 or A1 mini and want a quick project with real practical payoff, this design by Kikerv deserves a spot on your print queue.
